120.04 Virginia et Florida, c1625, by Samuel Purchas, London

A very interesting early map of Virginia based on Hondius' folio map of the same name.  The cartography is by John White's Virginia and Jacques le Moyne's Florida as interpreted by de Bry.  Features include Indian villages and interesting notes, i.e. Apalacci Montes where there is mentioned the presence of gold and silver.  The fictitious Lacus Dulcis is shown just below the notations.  A strapwork title cartouche and scale complete the map.  Rated Very Good, the map has text on the verso with the page containing the map measuring approximately (8.1" x 12.1") and the map (7.3" x 5.8"  - 18.6 x 14.8 cm).      ***SOLD***
