This map was first issued by De lisle in 1722 and continued publication basically unchanged until 1830.  One of the most popular of the 18th century maps it fixed the area to which the name California was subsequently attached.  It was also the first with Kino’s nomenclature of “Nouvelle Navarre” for northwestern Mexico.  A blank coastline is shown above Cap Blanc .  The map has very detailed geographic names and is the first edition with light outline color, verso blank.  The condition is rated Very Good [see our rating criteria on the Home Page] with only light foxing noted along the bottom of the map not affecting the subject matter.  The map measures approximately (23.5" x 19.0" - 59.7 x 48.3 cm).    $2300.  ($10.50 shipping / handling / ins.)
