Schedel’s Nuremberg Chronicles’ were published in two editions; Latin and German, both in 1493; appearing just before Christopher Columbus discoveries completely re-shaped the European view of the known world.  This magnificent work presented the history of the world in a pictorial encyclopedia with some 285 pages of text and over 1800 woodcut illustrations.  This particular woodcut sheet of Latin text relates to the lineage of Delbora, wife of Cain on the right and Old Testament figures on the left.  The verso has mythological figures of Hercules, Hector, Agamemnon, Menelaeus, Helena, and Paris.  The text was complied and edited by Schedel, printed Anton Koberger, with illustrations designed by Michael Wohlgemuth and Willem Pleydenwurff.  The five hundred year old print is rated Excellent with no apparent flaws other than a small worm hole in the margin, not affecting the printed areas.  It measures approximately (9.0" x 13.0"  - 22.9 x 33.1 cm).  With a Certificate of Authenticity.      $360.   ($10.50 shipping / handling / ins.)             New Item
