Captain James Cook (1728-79), explorer, hydrographer; circumnavigated the earth during his three voyages of discovery, 1768-71, 1772-75 and 1776-79. From the year 1778 Cook’s voyages appeared in English, Italian, French, and Dutch. This print, in color, is of Ulietca, one of the Society Islands.
