22.19 - "A Street in San Francisco”, 1866, Illustrated London News

- SOLD

This unusual view of San Francisco in the mid 19th century shows a bustling street scene as a cable car moves up a hill.  Large piles of goods line the street.  The print is in full color and was taken from a series of sketches made by Prussian painter E. Hilderandt during his world tour.  Featured in the Illustrated London News of the time, an article about the view and tour is on the verso.  The print is rated Excellent (see our rating criteria on the Home Page) with only very minor toning and a couple of tears along the border that is noted. It measures approximately (13.6″ x 9.3″ – 34.5 x 23.6 cm).
