520.27 - Statuum Marocca Norum, Regnorum Nempe Fessani, Maroccani, Tafiletani et Segelomessani .., 1728, by Johann Christoph Homann, Nuernberg

A Magnificat map in the true appeal of Homann family cartography.  This very large and graphic map shows the domains of tribes of the region.  The map includes the Canary islands as well as an insert of Madeira.  In the upper left corner there is a very beautiful title cartouche with engraved figures of soldiers, merchants, and indigenous animals.  At the bottom of the map, and full width; there is two inserts featuring panoramic views of Morocco and Mequinetz (Meknes).  The map is rated Excellent (see our rating criteria on the Home Page) in original color printed on heavy watermarked paper, with some light age toning noted along the centerfold.  It measures approximately (22.2″ x 19.1″ – 56.4 x 48.6 cm).
