Long and Ralph Newman, who co-wrote the two-volume Civil War: The American Llliad. The print features a large chronological history flanked by a Union and Confederate soldier. It documents 64 important events – from the election of Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America (C.S.A.), 1861 to Lee’s surrender at Appomattox and General Johnston’s surrender at Durham Station, 1865. These events are keyed to the print and insert; with a number of events illustrated . Shown are portraits of prominent figures from both sides of the war, all with a map of the U.S. in the background.
